As of 6AM this morning, the Winter Park Ski Area was reporting 21 inches of new snow for the last 48 hours. The number of trails open have doubled – from 8 to 16, and it’s still snowing. The forecast is calling for another 12 inches of snow today and tonight, with continuing snow into Monday, December 10th!
Having just had a flu shot, to coin a popular phrase, this is just the shot in the arm the Ski Area needs as we approach what will be a very busy Holiday Season. If you’re using your own equipment, unless you don’t care, I’d still recommend using rock skis and rock boards (is there such a term?) until the snow has been packed in and a decent base established, but this storm system beats the pants off all the snow-making efforts that have gone on for the last 6 weeks or so.
